Our Philosophy
We believe meaningful care begins with feeling seen, supported, and understood. Our approach is rooted in compassionate, whole-person care that recognizes the connection between emotional wellness, physical wellbeing, and everyday life. We strive to create welcoming, individualized experiences that encourage insight, resilience, balance, and meaningful growth at a pace that feels sustainable for each person.
The Heart of GroupWorks
GroupWorks is a locally owned, independent mental health and wellness practice serving Park Rapids and the surrounding communities. We believe healing happens through relationships, compassionate care, and evidence-based approaches tailored to the whole person.

Dawn R. Pappas
MSW, LICSW, DBTC, CPAHA
Owner, Clinician
Over the past 26 years as a therapist, I have come to believe that people are doing the best they can with the tools, experiences, and resources they have at that moment. Even on our most difficult days, we're trying our best.
I also believe in the power of being understood. When people feel heard without judgment, they often discover strengths they didn't realize they had and become more open to learning, growing, and creating meaningful change. It has been one of the greatest privileges of my career to be trusted with so many stories of courage, resilience, and hope.
Common Areas of Support
Trauma Recovery • Relationship Challenges • Grief & Loss • Life Transitions • Overthinking • Emotional Regulation • Self Criticism

Deborah J. Farrell
MSW, LICSW, DBTC
Owner, Clinician
My journey into psychotherapy began while working as a court advocate, where I witnessed firsthand how mental health challenges can profoundly affect individuals and families. That experience inspired me to become a therapist because I wanted to offer people something many had never experienced—a safe, respectful space where they could be heard, understood, and supported.
Common Areas of Support
Anxiety • Depression • ADHD • Stress Management • Emotional Regulation • Life Transitions • Relationship Challenges

I believe meaningful growth begins with feeling seen and heard. Since the start of my counseling career in community mental health, in 2013, It has truly been my honor to walk with individuals, couples and families through some of life’s greatest challenges. As a therapist my goal is to create a safe, trusting and non-judgmental space where you can slow down, and better understand yourself, your experiences, and begin moving toward the life you want to create whatever that may be.
Common Areas of Support
Anxiety • Depression • Trauma & PTSD • Panic Disorder • Social Anxiety • ADHD • Autism in Adolescents & Adults
