Meet Amanda

I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Brescia University and currently practice as a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) and Clinical Trainee. Before becoming a therapist, I spent over six years working in child welfare services, supporting children and families through complex life challenges. I also have experience providing crisis intervention services, particularly with children, adolescents, and families experiencing significant emotional distress.

My work in child welfare and crisis services greatly influenced my decision to become a therapist. While I valued the opportunity to support families during difficult times, I often found myself helping after a crisis had already occurred. I wanted the opportunity to work more directly with children, adolescents, and families as they processed their experiences, understood their emotions, and developed the skills needed to move forward in healthy and meaningful ways.

Through these experiences, I saw firsthand how trauma, stress, and unresolved emotional challenges can impact individuals and family relationships across generations. This inspired me to transition into clinical social work, where I could help clients not only navigate current challenges but also build resilience, strengthen relationships, and create lasting change. I am especially passionate about helping children, adolescents, and families heal from difficult experiences, develop healthy coping strategies, and work toward breaking cycles that may have affected their families for generations.

My clinical work incorporates evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-informed interventions, mindfulness practices, psychoeducation, and strengths-based approaches.

WHO I WORK WITH

I particularly enjoy working with children, adolescents, and young adults; however, I welcome the opportunity to support individuals of all ages who are seeking guidance, healing, and personal growth.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, and embracing life on our farm. I am a mother to three girls, and much of my free time is spent making memories with my family, caring for animals, and enjoying the simple moments that come with rural living.

My interest in therapy became deeply personal in 2021 when I was diagnosed with leukemia. During that challenging time, I worked with a provider who helped me navigate the emotional impact of my diagnosis. Through her compassionate support, active listening, and skills such as guided meditation and breathwork, I experienced firsthand the powerful difference that a caring and skilled therapist can make in someone's life. That experience not only helped me through one of the most difficult periods of my life, but it also strengthened my desire to become that source of support for others.

These personal and professional experiences have shaped my belief in the importance of creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered. They also help me bring authenticity, empathy, and compassion to the work I do every day.

A safe place to begin can make all the difference.

MY APPROACH

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and individualized to each client's unique needs and goals. I strive to create a welcoming and nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe exploring challenges, learning new skills, and recognizing their strengths. I believe therapy works best when it is built on trust, respect, and teamwork. Together, we focus on practical strategies, emotional growth, and building resilience to create lasting and meaningful change.
